Ancient Lure: A 2024 Pow Wow Pitch Semi-Finalist!

Ancient Lure had the honor of participating in the 2024 Pow Wow Pitch. Although we didn’t make it past the semi-finals, reaching this stage was a significant achievement and a truly valuable experience.

Our upcoming workshops will include Fishing Techniques and Conservation, where participants can learn sustainable fishing practices and techniques from experienced anglers. In our Fly Tying workshop, you'll have the opportunity to create your own custom fly-tying kits incorporating traditional tribal concepts. Our Outdoor Skills workshop will help you gain essential skills for safe and enjoyable outdoor adventures.

We are dedicated to promoting access to waterways for underserved communities and ensuring ADA access for anglers with disabilities. Through our advocacy efforts, we aim to make fishing accessible and enjoyable for everyone.

Meet the owner

Willa Powless is the passionate owner and founder of Ancient Lure, LLC, a unique bait and tackle shop located in Klamath County, Oregon. Drawing on her rich heritage as a member of the Klamath Tribes and her lifelong love for fishing, Willa has created a business that blends high-quality fishing gear with local artisan crafts and educational workshops. She is a dedicated advocate for access to waterways for underserved communities and ADA access for anglers with disabilities. Her vision for Ancient Lure is to foster community engagement, promote sustainable fishing practices, and reclaim the waterways for tribal members. With deep roots in the community and a commitment to environmental stewardship, Willa is dedicated to making Ancient Lure a cornerstone for fishing enthusiasts and nature lovers alike. Willa is a devoted grandmother, raising her grandson full-time after the tragic loss of her youngest daughter in 2021. She is actively involved in her community and committed to making a positive impact through her various roles and initiatives.
